What was solved

The project sat inside a listed building, which brought constraints that had to be assessed for risk and cost from the outset. Potential risks were identified before construction started and covered by allowances and strategies set up to avoid cost increases during delivery. Close commercial management and continued negotiation with the contractor brought the final account in at around 3% below the figure the contractor submitted.
